Sumitomo buys US pest control, agrobusiness firms

Sumitomo Chemical has announced the acquisition of two US-based companies that will increase its presence in the postharvest and pest control markets. The company says its wholly owned Valent BioSciences (Libertyville, IL) subsidiary has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Pace International (Seattle), a global leader in the postharvest segment of commercial agriculture with operations in the United States, Mexico, and South America, for $65 million.
