Specialty earnings hold on resilient end markets

Specialty chemical makers mostly beat estimates with resilient earnings, since major end markets, such as paints, water treatment, and agriculture grew. Some businesses, partcularly Ashland’s guar business and Chemtura’s flame retardants and insulations businesses, remained challenged, however.
