Specialty Chemical Firms Report Solid Earnings

Specialty chemical earnings remained solid in the face of economic weakness in fourth-quarter of 2011 with most companies beating analyst expectations. W.R. Grace reported fourth-quarter net income of $58.1 million, up 29% from the year-ago period. Sales increased 19%, to $825.6 million.
