Shell taking ethane bids for proposed Pennsylvania cracker

Shell Chemical has begun accepting bids from ethane suppliers for its proposed petrochemical complex in Pennsylvania, according to a company statement issued on 27 August. The Shell project aims to take advantage of the large volumes of ethane being extracted in the region from the Marcellus Shale deposits. Shell expects an upstream Shell affiliate, Shell Western Exploration and Production, to provide a portion of the ethane supply, and the company says it has also secured supply commitments from CNX Gas, Hilcorp Energy, Noble Energy, and Seneca Resources.
