Rockwood to sell rheology additives business to Altana for $635 million

Altana (Wesel, Germany) says it has agreed to acquire the rheology additives, or clay-based additives, business of Rockwood Holdings, for $635 million. The clay-based additives business generated $191.4 million in sales during 2012 and employs about 340 people. It has four manufacturing sites, two in the United States, one in the United Kingdom, and one in Germany.
