Chemical Week Magazine :: Business & Finance :: United States/Americas Praxair to Build Air Separation Unit in Newfoundland8:32 AM MDT | August 3, 2012 | Deepti Ramesh Praxair has signed a new contract with Vale (Rio de Janeiro), a leading international mining company, to supply oxygen to a nickel processing facility being built at Long Harbour, NF. Praxair will build, own, and operate a cryogenic air separation unit with a capacity of 390 m.t./day. The unit is expected to start up in mid-2013. Vale has a new hydrometallurgical process that will use oxygen to remove the sulfur and iron from the nickel.
