Praxair starts up hydrogen plant, extends LA pipeline

Praxair has started up a 135 million-standard cubic feet/day (scfd) hydrogen plant at Valero’s St. Charles refinery, at Norco, LA, as part of a long-term supply agreement. Also at Norco, the company says it will complete, in the fourth quarter, a 50-mile pipeline extension to Valero and Motiva Enterprises (Houston) refineries, which will connect five of Praxair’s steam methane reformers (SMRs) between Baton Rouge and New Orleans with 85 total miles of pipeline. “As petrochemical companies continue to make unprecedented investments in the lower...
