Chemical Week Magazine :: Business & Finance :: United States/Americas Monsanto’s Loss Widens, Glyphosate Sales Fall8:48 AM MDT | October 7, 2009 | Nancy Seewald Monsanto reported a net loss of $233 million in its fiscal fourth quarter ended August 31, compared with a net loss of $172 million in the same period last year. The company attributes the loss to restructuring costs and the sale of its sunflower business. Excluding special charges, earnings were 2 cts/share, compared with a loss of 3 cts/share in the same period last year, and ahead of analysts’ consensus of 1 ct/share as reported by Thomson Reuters (New York).
