Monsanto suspends soybean royalty collections in Brazil

Brazil’s largest soybean-growing state has ruled that Monsanto must suspend royalty collections on its first-generation Roundup Ready (RR1) soybean technology until the question of the seed’s patent term is determined. Monsanto says it is appealing the ruling handed down by Mato Grosso’s state appellate court on 17 October, but will suspend collections across all of Brazil to “maintain operational efficiency.” Soy scuffle: Patent term under discpute.
