Methanex adds 1.9 million m.t. methanol capacity worldwide

Methanex (Vancouver) has completed methanol capacity expansions totaling 1 million m.t./year in New Zealand and Canada and restarted its 900,000-m.t./year Chile I plant, the company said on 7 October. “These initiatives represent important milestones in reaching our growth objectives,” says John Floren, president and CEO of Methanex. “This new operating capacity, combined with our two 1-million m.t. plant relocations from Chile to Geismar, LA, will allow us to increase our operating capacity by up to 3 million m.t., to a total of 8 million m.t....
