Improving Demand Lifts Fourth Quarter Specialty Profits

Ghasemi: Growth in all business units. Earnings were strong at specialty chemicals firms in the fourth quarter as volumes continued to improve across most segments. Increases in raw material costs and weakness in construction negatively impacted some businesses, however. Rockwood Holdings reported net income of $109.6 million, compared to $10.8 million in the same year-ago period.
