Gevo halts isobutanol production at new site while it tweaks process

Gevo (Englewood, CO) says it is reverting its Luverne, MN biorefinery to ethanol production while it works to optimize isobutanol production rates. The move is a setback for Gevo, which has been touting the technology as a way for ethanol producers to retrofit their facilities to a higher-value product with minimal investment. Gevo purchased the site in 2010 as its first commercial-scale project using the technology, and commenced isobutanol production 17 weeks ago.
