Specialty chemicals firms continue to report mixed results for the fiscal quarter ended March 31, 2012, as the European economy and certain end markets remain depressed. Acquisitions helped several companies, including Ecolab, PolyOne, and Solutia, post gains, and earnings were in line with analysts’ estimates.
