Ecolab has agreed to acquire oilfield chemicals firm Champion Technologies (Houston), for $2.2 billion. Champion has about 3,300 employees in over 30 countries. The company’s 2011 sales were $1.4 billion. The deal expands Ecolab’s energy services business, which was acquired with Nalco in 2011, into new geographical markets, executives say.
