Early specialty earnings mostly beat estimates

The initial group of US first-quarter specialty chemical earning reports mostly beat analysts’ expectations on higher revenues and volumes. Albemarle and Sensient were both hit by special charges, although Sensient’s margins improved, and Albemarle’s revenues rose on solid results in catalysts. Coatings makers PPG Industries and Sherwin-Williams (SW) both had strong first quarters.
