EPA proposes lower renewable fuel standard mandate

EPAâ€™s 2014 Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) proposal lowers the amount of biofuels refiners are mandated to blend into fuels for the first time in the programâ€™s history. The agency says increased biofuels production mixed with declined overall fuel consumption has saturated the nationâ€™s fuel supply with ethanol. EPAâ€™s proposal calls for 15.0â€“15.2 billion gallons of biofuels be blended into the US fuel supply, down from the 16.55 billion gallons mandated be used in 2013. â€śNearly all gasoline sold in the US is now E10, which is fuel with up to 10%...
