EPA adds 50 chemicals to safer ingredients list

EPA announced on 24 January that it has added 50 chemicals, including 40 fragrance chemicals, to its Safer Chemical Ingredients List (SCIL). The SCIL was created in September 2012 and contains almost 650 chemicals, including over 150 fragrance chemicals, EPA says. The SCIL was created as a resource for manufacturers interested in making safer products, health and environmental advocates seeking to encourage the safer use of chemicals, and consumers seeking information on the ingredients in safer chemical products, EPA says.
