Chemical Week Magazine :: Business & Finance :: United States/Americas EPA Denies Environmental Group Petition to Ban 2,4-D6:56 AM MDT | April 20, 2012 | Rebecca Coons EPA announced earlier this month that it had denied a petition from the Natural Resources Defence Council (NRDC) asking the agency to cancel product registrations and revoke all food tolerances for the widely used herbicide 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D). NRDC petitioned EPA in November 2008 to ban 2,4-D, citing studies linking exposure to adverse health effects and ecological damage. The group filed suit against EPA in February to force a response.
