Dow Corning cuts 500 jobs from professional ranks

Profit squeeze: Most of the 500 jobs will be lost from Dow Corning’s professional ranks. Dow Corning says it will cut approximately 4% of of its workforce to better align its cost structure with the “realities of today’s volatile global economy.” The company says most of the 500 cuts will come from its professional ranks through an “involuntary separation program.” Dow Corning, the largest producer of silicones, says it is facing significant challenges including oversupplied markets, high raw materials costs, and slowed growth...
