Chemtex Plans Cellulosic Ethanol Plant in North Carolina

Franklinton, NC: Novozymes’ U.S. HQ, near new Chemtex plant. Gruppo Mossi & Ghisolfi subsidiary Chemtex says it has received a conditional $99-million loan guarantee from USDA to help fund an approximately $170-million cellulosic ethanol facility. The plant is expected to be located in Sampson County, NC, and to produce 20 million gallons per year. Construction is targeted to begin in late 2012, with the plant slated to come online in 2014.
