Celanese: Jury OKs Contract in Methanol Supply Lawsuit

Celanese says a jury has ruled in its favor in litigation filed by Southern Chemical relating to the terms of a multiyear methanol supply contract for Celanese’s U.S. and Mexico-based operations. The jury determined that the contract—under which Celanese has received about 800,000 m.t./year of methanol from Southern Chemical and paid the company about $130 million each year—should continue until its expiration in 2015, and that Celanese did not violate the contract’s terms.
