Celanese Extends Force Majeure on Acetic Acid

Celanese says it has extended force majeure on acetic acid after initial attempts to restart its 1.2-million m.t./year Clear Lake, TX plant were unsuccessful. Celanese also expanded the force majeure to include additional acetyl derivatives. The company first declared force majeure at the site on May 14 after an unplanned outage, and said at the time that it expected to restart the plant by the end of May (CW, May 23, p. 27).
