Brazil’s demand outpaces production as imports swell

Brazil’s demand for chemical products grew 7.1% in 2013, exceeding GDP growth, 2.3%, during the same period, according to figures released by Abiquim (São Paulo), the country’s chemical industry association. No baseline figures have been published. But, the country’s chemical production grew by just 1.6% in 2013 compared with the previous year.
