Braskem and Genomatica to develop biobutadiene technology

Braskem and Genomatica (San Diego) have reached an agreement to jointly develop commercial process technology to make butadiene from renewable feedstocks. Braskem—the world’s third-largest producer of butadiene—will provide significant funding for Genomatica’s development work over several years. Braskem also expects to allocate R&D resources and fund the construction and operation of pilot- and demonstration-scale butadiene production plants using the process.
