Bayer MaterialScience buys DuPont’s Baytown aniline plant

Bayer MaterialScience (BMS) says it has acquired DuPont’s Baytown, TX, aniline production plant. Financial terms have not been disclosed. Aniline is a key feedstock used to produce methylene di- para -phenylene isocyanate (MDI), used to make polyurethanes. The former DuPont facility, located within Bayer’s Baytown manufacturing complex, fully integrates BMS’s operations at the complex. “North America is poised for strong MDI growth driven by recovery in the construction market, energy code advancement, and home comfort trends,” says...
