Basell and Lyondell to Take New Name After Merger

Basell and Lyondell Chemical will be renamed LyondellBasell Industries, following completion of their proposed merger. “The new name will keep two well-respected names in the forefront of the polyolefins, chemicals, and refining industries,” says Basell CEO Volker Trautz. The companies also plan a LyondellBasell brand rollout once the merger is completed. Basell agreed to acquire Lyondell last July for $12.7 billion in an all-cash transaction (CW, July 25, p. 8).
