BASF opens $33-million ag research center

BASF last week inaugurated its agricultural research center at Research Triangle Park, NC. The $33-million investment includes a climate-controlled greenhouse, laboratories for plant biotechnology research, and a facility to expand insect control research. BASF announced the US expansion in February 2012, shortly after saying it would halt plant biotechnology development efforts aimed solely for the European market and move its BASF Plant Science headquarters to Research Triangle Park.
