Ashland shuts UPR, gelcoats plant

Ashland says it will close its unsaturated polyester resin (UPR) and gelcoats manufacturing plant at Kelowna, BC, effective 27 June. Six other sites in North America will continue to produce UPR and gelcoats, Ashland says. Factors behind the shutdown include the closures of some composites customers in the Pacific Northwest, the closure of a rail spur to Kelowna, and the economic downturn, the company says.
