Arkema starts up acrylic acid expansion at Clear Lake, TX

Arkema says it has brought onstream the previously announced additional acrylic acid capacity at its Clear Lake, TX, site. The added capacity brings the site to a nameplate capacity of 270,000 m.t./year. The expansion is a major portion of the $110-million investment announced in November 2010. Last year, Arkema started up a 2-ethylhexyl acrylate unit at its Bayport, TX, facility. The acrylic acid capacity expansion at Clear Lake was the second project announced.
