Arkema completes $110-million acrylics project in Texas

Arkema has started up a 45,000-m.t./year methyl acrylate plant at the company’s site at Clear Lake, TX. The plant is the final piece of a $110-million project aimed at beefing up the company’s acrylics business in the United States. Arkema announced the three-year project in November 2010. In 2012, the company finished converting a 50,000-m.t./year butyl acrylate plant at Bayport, TX, to a 40,000-m.t./year 2-ethylhexyl acrylate plant and consolidated all butyl acrylate production at Clear Lake.
