Westlake commences ethylene expansion at Lake Charles, LA

Westlake Chemical says it has begun work on the previously announced expansion of the Petro 2 ethylene unit at the company’s Lake Charles, LA, complex. The expansion work, which is being carried out during a scheduled maintenance turnaround, is expected to take 60 days and to add 230–240 million lbs/year of ethylene capacity at the Lake Charles site, supporting Westlake’s ethylene integration strategy, the company says.
