3M invests in Decatur site for fluoroelastomers

3M says it is expanding production capacity at its Decatur, AL, site for polymers used to produce fluoroelastomers and polymer processing additives. Plans include upgraded equipment that will significantly increase throughput and output capacities, although the company did not disclose expected capital costs. 3M expects to complete the expansion in the second quarter of 2013. 3M fluoropolymers are widely used in automotive, aerospace, and chemical processing, as well as in a broad base of other applications in the fluoroelastomer and polymer processing...
