Dow, OPX Bio Team Up for Bio-based Acrylic Acid

Dow Chemical and OPX Biotechnologies (Boulder, CO) say they are collaborating to develop an industrial-scale process for the production of bio-based acrylic acid. The companies signed a joint development agreement last week to prove the technical and economic viability of acrylic acid production using a fermentable sugar feedstock, creating a direct replacement for petroleum-based acrylic acid.
