World-Scale Soda Ash Complex Planned in Turkey

The Ciner Group (Istanbul), owner of soda ash producer Eti Soda, plans to construct a 2-million m.t./year soda ash plant at Kazan, Turkey that is due onstream at the end of 2013 or beginning of 2014, says Eti Soda marketing director Sinan Solaklar. The announcement follows the recent purchase by Ciner Group of the trona mineral rights at Kazan from mining company Rio Tinto for an undisclosed sum.
