Wacker Integrates to Silicon Metal Production Via Acquisition

Wacker Chemie has agreed to buy Fesil Group’s (Trondheim, Norway) silicon metal production site at Holla, Norway for about €65 million ($81.6 million). Wacker, through the acquisition, partially backintegrates to silicon metal, one of the key raw materials that the company uses in the production of silicones and hyperpure polysilicon. The transaction is subject to approval by the Wacker supervisory board and by Fesil’s board of directors, as well as to clearance by the relevant antitrust authorities. ...
