Versalis and Pirelli sign R&D deal to use natural rubber in tire production

Versalis, the chemicals arm of ENI (Rome), and leading tire manufacturer Pirelli have agreed to carry out joint research into the use of guayule-based natural rubber in the production of tires. The research project will run over a period of three years. Versalis will provide, on an exclusive basis, a range of guayule-based natural rubber materials, and Pirelli will carry out trial tests to validate the performance of the materials for tire production. Versalis will supply Pirelli with guayule-based natural rubber as soon as industrial quantities become available...
