Toray Buys Arkema out of Carbon Fiber Manufacturer

Toray Industries says it has purchased the shares it did not own in Société des Fibres de Carbone (Soficar; Abidos, France), a manufacturer and supplier of carbon fibers, from Arkema. Toray previously held a 70% stake in Soficar and Arkema held 30%. Soficar has, as a result, become a wholly owned subsidiary of Toray, and the business will be renamed Toray Carbon Fibers Europe (CFE).
