Solvay confirms plans to sell PVC compound business

Solvay has confirmed that it has signed an agreement to sell its polyvinyl chloride (PVC) compound business, Benvic Europe, to investment company OpenGate Capital (Los Angeles). The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2014. Benvic had sales of about €160 million ($219 million) in 2013, Solvay says. Benvic has PVC compound production sites in France, Italy, and Spain. OpenGate announced last December that it intended to acquire Benvic.
