Sipchem to Sign Tolling Deal with Sabic; Eyes Acquisitions

Saudi International Petrochemical Co. (Sipchem; Al Khobar) expects to sign an olefins toll manufacturing agreement with Sabic this quarter, CW has learned. Ahmad A. Al-Ohali, president and CEO of Sipchem, told CW recently that Sipchem is discussing with the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (Riyadh) a reduced gas allocation for the company’s planned petrochemical complex at Al Jubail, Saudi Arabia. The talks follow a decision last year to abandon plans for an ethylene plant that would have formed part of the complex (CW, June 23, 2008, p. 5)...
