Saudi Kayan (Al Jubail, Saudi Arabia), Sadara Chemical (Al Jubail), and Saudi Acrylic Acid Co. (SAAC; Al Jubail) have signed an agreement to establish Saudi Butanol Co., which will produce butanol to support growth of the paints and coatings industry in Saudi Arabia. The previously announced plant will be designed to produce 330,000 m.t./year of n-butanol and 11,000 m.t./year of isobutanol, and will cost an estimated 1.94 billion Saudi riyals ($517 million).
