Sasol to Sell Five Fertilizer Blending Plants in South Africa

Sasol Nitro, a division of Sasol Chemical Industries, plans to divest five fertilizer blending sites in South Africa as part of a settlement agreed with the Competition Commission of South Africa (Pretoria) last July. Sasol says the divestment will address the commission’s concerns regarding Sasol Nitro’s market position in nitrogen fertilizers. The company will sell the Bellville, Durban, Kimberley, Potchefstroom, and Endicott blending sites before August 2011. It will retain its full production activities at Secunda.
