Chemical Week Magazine :: Business & Finance :: Europe/Mideast Sabic to Build the Mideast’s First Oleochemicals Plant9:24 AM MDT | September 3, 2010 | Ian Young Sabic says it has signed a technology licensing and engineering deal with Lurgi for an oleochemicals complex at the Jubail, Saudi Arabia production site of Saudi Kayan Petrochemical, a Sabic affiliate. Start-up of the plant is scheduled for the end of 2013. It will be the first oleochemicals plant to be built in the Mideast. The complex will include an upstream natural acid unit, a wax-ester unit, a hydrogenation unit, and a downstream natural alcohol fractionation and distillation line, as well as a complete glycerine line.
