Repsol reports higher earnings, new leadership in place

Repsol (Madrid) posted net income of €520 million ($698.4 million) in the second quarter, an increase of 95% from the year-earlier period. Net income from downstream operations during the quarter was up 32%, to €162 million. Higher petrochemical prices and efficiency programs that the company implemented at its sites offset higher naphtha prices during the quarter, resulting in net income of €20 million in petrochemicals.
