Performance Chemicals Are Key to Sabic’s Diversification Plans

Performance chemicals, the youngest of Sabic’s six strategic business units (SBU), is on course to grow revenue by a factor of 10 by 2015, CW has learned. The business generates sales of about $500 million/year. It makes linear alpha-olefins and higher alpha-olefins in the C6 and higher range at Jubail, Saudi Arabia through Sabic subsidiary Jubail United, and acetic acid at Yanbu through subsidiary Ibn Rushd, all using Sabic’s proprietary technology.
