Lanxess Returns to Profit, Forecasts Improvement

Lanxess posted net profits of €14 million ($19 million) for the fourth quarter of 2009 compared with a loss of €32 million in the same period of 2008. Profits were down 39% from the previous quarter, however. The fourth-quarter net profits figure includes special charges and exceptionals totaling €32 million β€œdue to restructuring measures undertaken at the end of the year, in the form of plant closures in China and Mexico,” Lanxess chairman Axel Heitmann tells CW. β€œIn the third quarter, exceptionals were only €14 million.” {indesign_image...
