Kemira mulls options for ChemSolutions, buys Italian firm

Kemira has retained investment bank SEB (Stockholm) to review strategic options for part of Kemira’s ChemSolutions segment. The part of ChemSolutions under review is its formic acid and derivatives operation including a plant at Oulu, Finland, Matti Lapinleimu, v.p./M&A at Kemira, tells CW. It is the second-largest producer of formic acid, trailing BASF. Kemira divested ChemSolutions’ food and pharmaceuticals business in the first quarter of 2013.
