Ineos to close expandablepolystyrene plant in Germany

Ineos intends to close an expandable polystyrene (EPS) manufacturing plant at its Marl, Germany, site at the end of the fourth quarter of this year. Ineos will begin discussions with employees and the site’s works council to find alternative roles for the 65 people affected by the closure. Ineos cites declining demand for EPS from the European construction sector, which has suffered from adverse economic conditions. EPS is used mainly in the insulation of buildings.
