Hambrecht Slams Energy Strategy

BASF chairman Jürgen Hambrecht has criticized German government proposals for an energy strategy that includes doubling energy productivity by 2020, compared with 1990 levels. “I do not believe in a policy that sets a restrictive framework and overambitious targets,” Hambrecht says. “I have learned in over 30 years at BASF that unrealistic demands lead to confusion and failure.” Hambrecht attended the government’s third “energy summit” in Berlin earlier this month, together with other CEOs and stakeholders.
