Evonik Acquires Arkema’s Methacrylate Esters Business

Evonik Industries has acquired Arkema’s specialty methacrylate esters business for an undisclosed price. The move follows the restructuring of Arkema’s Carling, France methacrylates operations last year, which included closure of the site’s 80,000-m.t./year methyl methacrylate (MMA) unit. The unit supplied feedstock to Arkema’s methacrylate ester facilities, also located at Carling, which produced 2-ethylhexyl methacrylate, dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate, and n- and i-butyl methacrylate.
