EU Okays Syngenta-Monsanto Sunflower Deal with Conditions

The European Commission has cleared Syngentaâ€™s acquisition of Monsantoâ€™s global sunflower seeds business. The deal combines two leading sunflower seed suppliers with significant breeding activities. The European authoritiesâ€™ decision is conditional on the divestment of Monsantoâ€™s sunflower hybrids, commercialized or under official trial in Spain and Hungary, as well as parental seed lines used in the creation of those hybrids or currently under development for the creation of hybrids for Spain and Hungary.
